Ellison signs with DI Stetson
FLINT - After an historic career with the Mott Community College men's basketball team, Mehki Ellison has signed to continue his college career with an NCAA DI program.
The Flint native recently made it official to play at Stetson University in 2024-25, signing with the Hatters. Stetson is located in DeLand, Fla., and compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
"Mehki Ellison has done a remarkable job leading our program these past two years," Mott Head Coach Steve Schmidt said. "He is a very talented, confident and consistent performer. What he accomplished during his career here at Mott is remarkable. Not only can he score, but he also led our program in assists. Mehki defends really well and is a very complete all around basketball player. He was the main focus of every one of our opponents to slow down, defend and contain. I really enjoyed working with Mehki the past two years. Stetson University got a steal in a player who will continue to develop and lead their program in the ASUN conference. Mehki Ellison represented our program at Mott with class and truly is an All-American. We are all looking forward to following his career and continued success."
After graduating from Carman-Ainsworth High School, Ellison went on to great achievements at Mott including becoming the program's all-time leading scorer this past season, finishing with 1,394 points. He averaged 27.5 points per game as a sophomore, earning MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week five times, and NJCAA National Player of the Week twice.
Additional accolades for Ellison include, two time First Team All-Conference, All-State, and All-Region, while also being named the 2023 MCCAA Eastern Conference Freshman of the Year. He led Mott to a 49-17 record in two seasons.
