Mott holds off SC4 in MCCAA victory

PORT HURON, Mich. - The Mott Community College men's basketball team opened the MCCAA Eastern Conference scheduled on the road at St. Clair County Community College on Saturday. 

The Bears held a six-point lead at the half, but the Skippers were able to move in front with just over eight minutes to play. Mott went on a 15-2 run and held on for an 81-74 victory. 

The win is the seventh straight for the Bears, and moves Mott to 12-3 overall and 1-0 in the MCCAA.

Mott Highlights:

• Justin Mims led the Bears with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while adding seven rebounds and three steals.

• Kylen Clark added 17 points, including three 3-pointers. 

• Kimari Barden finished with 13 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals. 

• Kevin Tiggs Jr. recorded 10 points, four rebounds and two steals.

• Teon Armstrong and Miles Beard each added nine points in the win.

• The Bears shot 27-of-55 from the field, 9-of-20 from deep, and 18-of-24 from the line.
