FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team played its first home doubleheader of the season against St. Clair County Community College on Tuesday in Flint.
The Bears scored two in the sixth on a home run from Kiera McGarvie to take to the opener 3-1. McGarvie added three more hits in the finale to lead Mott to a 5-1 victory and the sweep. Arika Hines pitched all 14 innings for the Bears, who moved to 13-6 overall and 5-1 in the MCCAA.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Prior to the games, Gracie Cantley was named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second straight time. Last week she went 10-for-15 with four doubles, a triple, a home run, 11 RBIs, five runs scored, and two stolen bases, while slugging 1.267.
Game One:

McGarvie recorded a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored.

Cantley went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Carley Hoover added a double, while Katelyn Stallings and Mackenzie Jones each recorded a hit.

Hines (6-5) pitched the complete game allowing one run on two hits, waling two and striking out 12.
Game Two:

McGarvie led the offense with three hits, a triple, two runs, and two RBIs.

Stallings added two hits and an RBI.

Alexis Hemker, Cantley, and Hoover each finished with a hit.

Hines (7-5) went all seven innings again, allowing one unearned run on four hits, walking three and striking out seven.
