Mott continues MCCAA competition

FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team went 5-3 in eight road MCCAA Eastern Conference matchups this week as the regular season continues for the Bears. 

Mott opened the week with a split at Henry Ford College on Tuesday, followed by a dominating sweep of Macomb Community College on the road on Thursday. The Bears dropped a pair at St. Clair County Community College on Saturday before rebounding with a sweep over Schoolcraft college on Saturday. 

The results move Mott to 21-10 overall and 13-5 in the MCCAA. The Bears site a game back of Oakland Community College for first place in the Eastern Conference. 

Game One vs. HFC (7-3 win):

• Josie Spencer was 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs, a double, and two stolen bases. 

• Parker Beardsley and Alexis Hemker each added two hits, a double and a run scored. 

• Mya Martinez (7-2) got the win, allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits, while walking seven and striking out five in 6.1 innings. 

• Arika Hines (3) earned the save, getting the final two outs. 

Game Two vs. HFC (4-3 loss):

• Keira McGarvie had two hits, a double, and an RBI. 

• Gracie Cantley added a double and a walk. 

• Katelyn Stallings (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits, walking one in two innings. 

Game One vs. Macomb (11-0 win in 5 innings):

• McGarvie had a home run and a double, finishing with three runs and an RBI. 

• Breana Fantin added two hits and three RBIs.

• Hines (10-5) got the win in three scoreless innings, allowing two walks and striking out two. 

Game Two vs. Macomb (9-1 win in 5 innings):

• Hemker led the offense with three hits, two RBIs, and a run scored. 

• Stallings added two hits, two runs, and three RBIs. 

• Martinez (8-2) tossed all five innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits, while allowing one walk. 

Game One vs. SC4 (11-8 loss):

• Beardsley had two hits including a double, adding a run and two RBIs. 

• Maddy Shoultes recorded two hits, two runs, and an RBI. 

• Spencer added two hits, a double, one run and one RBI. 

• Hines (10-6) took the loss, going 3.1 innings, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits, while walking four and striking out four. 

Game Two vs. SC4 (8-7 loss):

• Stallings recorded three hits, including a triple, adding two runs, and two RBis. 

• Beardsley and Cantley each recorded two hits and a run scored. 

• Stallings (0-2) was charged with the loss, pitching two innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits, while walking one. 

Game One vs. Schoolcraft (5-0 win):

• Beardsley went 3-for-3 with a sacrifice, one run, one RBI, and a steal.

• McGarvie added three hits, two steals, and a run scored. 

• Spencer and Cantley each recorded a double. 

• Hines (11-6) tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, while striking out 15. 

Game Two vs. Schoolcraft (7-4 win):

• Hemker finished with two hits and one run scored. 

• Stallings added one hit, one run, and two RBIs. 

• Hines (12-6) got the win in relief, allowing one run on two hits, walking four and striking out six in five innings. She added a double, two RBIs, and a steal.
