Eric Lazowski named next Head Coach of Mott Volleyball
FLINT - Mott Community College has announced the hiring of Eric Lazowski as the next Head Coach of the Bears Volleyball team.
Lazowski took the helm of the Mott Community College Volleyball program in June of 2024. Prior to becoming the head coach of the Bears, Eric was the head varsity coach of Powers Catholic High School for four years, where he built a strong and vibrant program.
"I'm very excited to join the Mott Athletics family," Lazowski said. "The volleyball program has a long standing tradition of success. Thank you to Al Perry and his athletic staff for their support and belief in me to lead the program forward."
Lazowski is the co-founder and co-owner of Five:1 Volleyball Club where he serves as the Volleyball Director/Lead Instructor. As the lead instructor for all of the teams in the gym, ensures consistency in training from our youngest athletes to the oldest in the surrounding area. Eric's background as a player, as a collegiate coach, club director, and current commissioner of the Lakeshore Region of USA Volleyball brings an extremely unique and robust skill to all the students he works with at the club and the Mott Community College Volleyball program.
His lifelong passion for the game of volleyball began while in college first at Central Michigan then at Michigan State and has continued throughout adulthood, as he transitioned from collegiate player, to professional beach player, to professionally trained coach.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Coach Eric Lazowski and his family to the Mott Community College Athletics program," Mott Athletics Director All Perry said. "Coach Lazowski is a proven winner with a tremendous amount of experience at the NCAA, high school, and club volleyball levels. As I told the team when former head coach Katie Naves announced her resignation, we would not compromise in finding our next head coach who meets our standards. In addition, we were looking for someone that had the ability to make the program not just regionally dominant, but perennially nationally competitive. Coach Lazowski has everything we were looking for, and exceeds our expectations. We are confident that he will continue the success that we have enjoyed, begin reaching the national tournament consistently, and ensure that Mott Community College is a destination institution for high school volleyball players that have an appetite to take their athletic career to the next level."
